This summer many of us have been reminded of how lifesaving access to a defibrillator can be, after the shocking scenes of Christian Eriksen at the Euro 2020. We are proud to announce that members and visitors to Decoy BMX Club in Newton Abbot will now have some additional peace of mind as Burrington Estates New Homes have donated a potentially lifesaving defibrillator to the track.

Studies* show that one heart attack happens every seven minutes, and with Decoy BMX track attracting thousands of visitors every year, the club is keen to ensure that the facilities at the Newton Abbot track in Teignbridge, keep audiences and riders safe.

Burrington Estates New Homes have also donated a much-needed brand-new kitchen to the Decoy BMX Club, courtesy of Nobilia, which will be greatly appreciated by all members and visitors to the club. Burrington Estates New Homes is committed to supporting local causes and communities in areas such as Teignbridge District Council, through charitable donations as well as the development of beautiful new homes.

Grayham Tucker, Managing Director of Burrington Estates New Homes said: “We’re delighted to donate a defibrillator to the Decoy BMX Club. This essential piece of life-saving equipment for the riders and visitors to the club is vital in helping save lives. I personally attend the club with my children who are Exeter Eagles riders, and as a parent, it’s reassuring knowing that if someone needs resuscitation, it’s available without delay.”

Neil Forsyth, Chairman of Decoy BMX Club said: “We would like to pass on a huge thanks to Burrington Estates for the supply of the club’s new kitchen and defibrillator. The kitchen was in desperate need of an update, and with club funds usually being absorbed in track maintenance, the kitchen was always last on the list. Now though it wouldn’t look out of place on master chef – it’s a huge improvement. The defibrillator literally is a life saver. We hope to never have to use it, but if the need comes it could be the difference.”

This donation of a new kitchen and defibrillator is just the latest community project by Burrington Estates. To find out about other charity events and community work visit burringtonestates.com/news.
