The build completion date for New Homes in England has been extended by two months to help homebuyers who are using the Help to Buy equity loan scheme.

Originally, the date was set as 31st December 2020, however the extension now means that the build completion deadline for new homes is 28th February 2021. This latest news follows the Stamp Duty holiday, announced by Government last week, which is set to change on 31st March, 2021.

The two-month extension to the build completion date will help homebuyers, who have seen delays in the build process of their home due to COVID-19, complete on purchasing a new home.

The legal completion date remains the same on 31st March 2021. The Government has stated, that in limited cases, the legal completion date could be extended to 31st May 2021, where the homebuyer reserved before 30th June 2020 and has experienced several delays due to COVID-19.

The Help to Buy equity loan scheme is changing come April 2021. Find out more about the Help to Buy scheme and further information from the Government about the scheme can be found online.
