Steeped in rich history, Tiverton is home to several architectural and historical sites. A must-see for all is Tiverton Castle, originally built in the 12th century by Henry I, the castle is known to have been used as a royalist stronghold in the Civil War. 

The National Trust property, Knighthayes Court is filled with spectacular gardens and parklands, perfect for a picnic, along with some of the finest Gothic Revival architecture presented in the house itself. Being a market town, it is perfect for some retail therapy with a wide selection of high street retailers and independent stores. Playing up to its market town heritage, it still hosts a rare Pannier Market, the ideal place for picking up unique gifts. There is also a weekly farmers market, the perfect opportunity to shop for local produce.

Stretching 11 miles, the canal provides a lovely walk, with its amazing collection of bridges and a broad selection of stunning wildlife, it makes a great spot for a relaxing stroll. You may even be lucky enough to see one of the majestic shire horses towing a barge.
