Exeter developer celebrates one million bricks at flagship development in Topsham

Exeter-based property developer, Burrington Estates New Homes, have marked a major milestone in the build of their developments across the South West as they lay the one millionth brick at EXIII in Topsham.

The property developer, who have been building luxury new homes across the South West for the past three years, celebrated the occasion with a brick laying ceremony, with both construction teams and suppliers in attendance. The millionth brick marks the final phase of the build at EXIII, with only a few properties remaining.

The millionth brick follows a standout year of success for the award-winning developer, who have been recognised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) in their Quality Award Scheme which is the industry’s benchmark for quality of a development in terms of build standard and overall site management. Two site managers, Shaun Marsden and Gary O’Gorman, were awarded the Pride in the Job awards for their work at Trispen Meadows, Truro, and Notre Dame, Plymouth, with Shaun going on to win the prestigious Seal of Excellence Award.

Engaging local suppliers and providing jobs within the community is a cornerstone for the property developer, who have partnered with South West Brick and Stone for their developments. South West Brick and Stone, based out of Bovey Tracey, are one of the region’s largest independent bricks specialists providing high quality services to the construction industry.

Colin Palmer, Managing Director at Burrington Estates, said, “This year has truly been incredible for the Burrington Estates New Homes team and we are delighted to have reached this great milestone. We have always said that building houses is so much more than places for people to live, it’s about creating desirable homes and long-lasting communities. Behind the million bricks are the couples and families who have trusted us to create their dream home and we cannot thank them enough.”

Colin continued, “It’s been great working with South West Brick and Stone who have supplied quality bricks for our developments and we have built a strong relationship which we hope to continue.”

Gary Norton, Managing Director at South West Brick and Stone said, “South West Brick and Stone are proud to be associated with Burrington Estates, providing high quality facing bricks to construct exceptional homes for modern families. We look forward to continued development in years to come.”

Burrington Estates New Homes are proud sponsors of the SB Frankfort football team, based in Plymouth

Match report 26th January 2019:

The under 16s team recently played against Tavistock Community the match started well and after dominating the majority of the first half, SB Frankfort eventually broke the deadlock and were leading by 1-0 at half time. The second half was a muddy battle but the boys worked hard and held on for a well-deserved win. 1-0 final score.

Coach Greg says “I’d like to say a big thank you from myself, my two assistants Ben and Ian and the squad for sponsoring our side. Without the kind sponsorship of local businesses, it would be very difficult to run a side as it can be quite expensive with pitch fees, training facilities, equipment and kits etc. Along with the players seasonal fees this all helps us as a club provide the boys with a positive environment and good facilities to train and play in all while looking good at the same time.”

Team BE gets knocked out at ‘It’s a Knockout’

This month, the Burrington Estates New Homes team took a trip across the border to take part in the annual ‘It’s a Knockout’ event in Cornwall. Nine members of the new homes team and friends were ready to compete against 11 other teams in the foam-tastic, inflatable, family fun day raising money for Cornwall Hospice Care.

The day saw local residents and holiday makers enjoy the entertainment, with a dog show, horse riding event, BBQ, live band and circus games as well as the mighty ‘It’s a Knockout’ final game.

12 teams in total took part in the 7 different obstacle stations which consisted of tunnel diving, climbing, ball throwing, hoop flying, group sack racing, space hopping, dancing and more.

It was a great event that was held at the St Erme Cricket Club in Trispen organised by The Trispen Funday committee, just a stone’s throw away from Burrington Estates new homes development; Trispen Meadows. Over £600 was raised for Cornwall Hospice Care with donations still being collected. We would like to thank the committee for inviting us and congratulate the well-deserved, winning team – Cornwall Glass.

Local school children receive a lesson in house building at Trispen Meadows

Local school children receive a lesson in house building at Trispen Meadows

50 children from St Erme with Trispen Community Primary School were invited to explore the Trispen Meadows development and enjoy an afternoon of activities. Head of Construction, Mike Crawford, and Site Manager, Shaun Marsden, gave a tour of the site and the show home, and explained the essentials of house building in an interview led by the children. The students were also tasked with sketching the four bedroom show home, a Coombe house type which is available from £385,000, it has a mix of stonework and render, pointed archways and a landscaped front garden.

Mike Crawford, Head of Construction at Burrington Estates New Homes, said: ‘We were delighted to welcome the school children to Trispen Meadows as it’s such a fantastic opportunity for them to learn more about construction and the building industry. It was great to see them take their first steps at the brick laying demonstration – I think we had a few future bricklayers on our hands! Making links with the local community is a cornerstone of what we at Burrington Estates do, so it was a real pleasure having them on site.’

Julie Orrell, Headteacher at Trispen Community Primary School, said: ‘As part of our curriculum, we explore the history, use and development of land in the village. The children were very impressed during the tour of the completed show home by the size of the house, garden and number of hi-tech appliances, such as a coffee machine that can be operated remotely before the owner arrives home! We would like to thank Nicola, Mike and Shaun from Burrington Estates NEw Homes for providing such an enjoyable learning opportunity for our children in their local community.”

The collection of two, three and four bedroom new homes at Trispen Meadows promise high quality without compromise. There are a handful of homes remaining in phase 1 with the first properties ready to move in to this Summer.
