From the rugged cornish countryside to the stunning sights at The Eden Project, there’s a whole host of activities within 30 minutes drive of our new homes at Trispen Meadows, Trispen.

 

Whether it’s surfing the waves at Newquay or exploring the fantastic history of this southern county, there’s something everyone can enjoy in less than 30 minutes drive time. Take a look at a few of our recommendations;

1. Trispen – 1 minute

This small, friendly, village community is the perfect place to set up home, with a good primary school, local shop, post office and village hall. The village pub, the Clock and Key, is the perfect way to end a day, serving fine ales and Sunday roasts. Emma and Gary, the Landlady and Landlord, are also the perfect pair who are always happy to recommend a few of their favourite spots to visit in the area.

 

2. A charming Georgian city – Truro, 11 minutes

Visitors to the charming Georgian city of Truro can find a wealth of independent and high street names providing the ideal place to find something new. At Lemon Street Market, you’ll discover Baker Tom’s irresistible range of croissants and sourdough bread, and Cliffside Clothing, a boutique Italian clothing store. On the cobbled high street you can find popular names such as Joules and The White Company. Mannings Bar & Restaurant has a range of tempting tipples to enjoy on any occasion while Bustopher Jones is a lovely wine bar in a beautiful listed building in the heart of the city. The towers of Truro Cathedral stand proud in the city centre, overlooking the many visitors come to see the beauty of this gothic revival building.

 

3. Discover the coastline – Newquay & Perranporth, 16 minutes

With over 600 miles of coastline to discover, what better way to spend a weekend than enjoying the sandy beaches and turquoise blue seas of Perranporth and Newquay’s Fistral. Surfing novices and experts alike will love riding the waves at the popular Cornish town, Newquay. Whether you want to learn as a family or allow the kids to spread their wings on the waves, Fistral Beach Surfing School provides a great opportunity to hone those skills. Boardmasters, an annual festival combining live music and surfing competitions, returns in August and is a great event couples and families will enjoy.

 

4. Walking through wildlife – Malpas to Tresillian, 16 minutes

Along the calming banks of the beautiful Fal River, you can enjoy a scenic walk from the quaint village of Malpas to Tresillian. This 3 mile walk has plenty of birds and wildlife to discover as well as some popular stops along the way. The Heron Inn, serving freshly prepared seafood, has lovely views of the Truro and Tresillian rivers while the church of St Clement has stunning hand painted windows and is home to one of only three listed lychgates in the country.

 

5. Life as a Cornish prisoner – Bodmin Jail, 25 minutes

Dating back over 200 years, this historic jail in the heart of Cornwall shows what life was really like for an 18th century prisoner. Visitors to the jail can find the cold dank pits where prisoners were kept, the luxury guards quarters and over six levels of cells. During the War, it was home to two national treasures: the Doomsday book and Crown Jewels. Its unique design makes it one of the county’s most famous buildings and something not to be missed.

 

6. Green fingers and thumbs – The Lost Gardens of Heligan, 29 minutes

25 years ago, the lost gardens were a tangle of weeds, but through love and care they are now transformed into one of the finest gardens in Cornwall. The 200 acre estate hosts regular events that everyone will love – like the Daffodil Fair and Heligan Feast Night which showcases the unique flavours produced in their iconic gardens. It’s good news for our four legged friends – they can enjoy exploring the sights and smells of the flowers too.

 

7. A piece of history – The National Trust, Trelissick, 20 minutes

You’ll be spoilt for choice with the range of National Trust locations to find in Cornwall. At Trelissick, you will find a welcoming country estate and garden with stunning maritime views and a picturesque woodland walk. There are panoramic views over the Fal estuary to enjoy as well as garden full with exotic plants. The house itself has a diverse history, with hidden rooms and secret passageways, and regularly hosts exhibitions – you can even find a specialised Cornish art gallery.

 

8. Wildlife in abundance – The Eden Project, 28 minutes

At the Eden Project, you can discover the outdoor gardens, rainforest biome, giant bee, climbing frames and more. The kids will love the soft play area while adults can enjoy sensational food at the Mediterranean Terrace restaurant. From a working china clay pit in 1995 to the launch of the international venture in 2017, this fantastic location provides a great day out for the whole family.

 

9. Explore the world – Cornwall Airport, 18 minutes, Truro railway station 12 minutes

While there’s so much to discover near our new homes, if you’re looking to travel a little further afield, Cornwall Airport is the perfect destination. Located on the outskirts of Newquay, you can visit a whole host of locations for both business and pleasure. For commuters, London is only an hour away or if you want to sun yourself in Spain, you can arrive in Alicante in just over two hours. There are two mainline road links, the A39 and A30, just a minutes drive from the homes, providing easy access to the rest of Cornwall, Devon and beyond.

From Truro train station you can enjoy a scenic journey along the cornish and devon coastlines. Plymouth is just an hour away or you can reach Exeter in two, two excellent destinations for both commuters and shoppers. There are also mainline links to London, accessible in under five hours.
