MEET THE TEAM

Burrington Estates comprises a team of highly experienced property professionals with an extensive track record of success in the restoration of historic buildings, the preservation of heritage sites and in large-scale construction and renovation projects. Our passion is to create value from being smart and results-focused at all stages of the property-development process.

Mark Edworthy and Paul Scantlebury are the founders and joint partners in Burrington Estates.

Their 45+ years’ combined expertise in realising value from property, coupled with their vision, passion and expertise, puts Burrington Estates at the forefront of new development and renovation in the South West.

Mark Edworthy

Mark has been involved with property, construction and property financing for more than 20 years. He qualified as a Chemical Engineer and spent the first few years of his career at Mobil Oil, where he was a project engineer overseeing the construction of new fuel stations with expanded stores, pioneering the wider retail offering seen at most fuel stations today. This involved intense and quick construction schedules.

Following Mobil, Mark completed a one-year full-time MBA at Cranfield School of Management, and then moved into investment management at Merrill Lynch Investment Bank for five years. He used this experience to join a small specialist funding business as Managing Director, achieving strong growth, which lead to an IPO on the London Stock Exchange in 2006. This business had a division focused exclusively on funding small and medium-sized property developers, allowing Mark to establish many of the good relationships enjoyed by Burrington Estates today.

To Burrington Estates, and every project undertaken by the team, Mark brings a winning combination of excellent frontline development-completion experience and strong financing skills.

Paul Scantlebury

A property development director with a background in construction, Paul has more than 25 years’ experience across the commercial and residential sectors, including affordable and first-time buyer housing, keyworker and student accommodation, retail, leisure, and office facilities.

Paul’s extensive network of cross-sector contacts, coupled with his astute commercial awareness of a project’s potential in its earliest stages, has seen him undertake major building projects across the UK and Europe, including the South of France and the Czech Republic.
